Tear Trough

Tear troughs are depressions which run from the nose and all around under the eye. These depressions get worse as we age, as a result of the sagging skin and facial fat underneath, leaving this depression. As the face ages this gives the appearance of lower eye bags and dark circles. We use a very careful multiple puncture technique, injecting the dermal filler deep just above the orbital bone. We inject many times, depositing small boluses, and massaging them and moulding them carefully along the way. Effects may last up to a year.

How Does It Work?
As the face ages this gives the appearance of lower eye bags and dark circles. In the past, it was thought that only surgery could improve the eye bags, and there were no effective treatments for the annoying dark circles under the eyes. We use a very careful multiple puncture technique, injecting the dermal filler deep just above the orbital bone. We inject many times, depositing small boluses, and massaging them and moulding them carefully along the way. Like a patchwork, we slowly build up the filler, and because of our special technique, we have never yet had to use hyalase to melt the product away. The procedure takes only 20 minutes and the results are truly amazing. This procedure rejuvenates the tired aging face like no other.

Am I A Suitable Candidate?
There is no known risk to those who are pregnant or breast feeding, but we would advise against having treatment under these circumstances.

Does It Hurt?
The area treated is not very sensitive and pain in most patients is minimal. However, in order to make the procedure far less painful your advanced and experienced aesthetic practitioner may numb the area using a topical anaesthetic cream prior to commencement of treatment to minimise sensation of treatment.

Are There Any Side Effects?
Some injection related side-effects can occur including redness, swelling and bruising but none of these are usually very significant and will resolve in a matter of days. The most common side effect is bruising, which can be easily covered with make-up.

How Long Do The Results Last?
The results last between 3 to 6 months. This varies from person to person.

How Many Sessions Do I Need?
The results will last around 6-12 months, but in many cases it can be even longer. Once the patient has had a few top ups, the results can be very long lasting indeed.

Procedure Time
The procedure takes around 10-20 minutes, and the results are instantaneous.

Anaesthetic: Anaesthetic cream for about 20-30 minute
